The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) in Penticton, B.C., has rolled out a new wrap for its electric Parks and Facilities van, to promote the benefits of driving electric vehicles (EVs).
Last spring and summer, the RDOS hosted booths at seven community events, to share information about how EVs work, their pros and cons, and the roles they can play in strengthening communities. The district also held a competition to design a new decal for the van.
The RDOS received 80 entries, which were reviewed by a committee. However, the group had difficulty choosing just one design to best represent the outreach initiative. Instead, local shop Jafa Signs used three designs featuring school children’s artwork as inspiration to create a wrap for the Ford E-Transit.
The EV initiative was completed with support from the Emotive Community Outreach Incentive Program (COIP), which is funded by the province’s CleanBC Go Electric Program. Funding is administered by Plug In BC, a program of the Fraser Basin Council Society, to assist with delivering Emotive campaign activities which raise the awareness and profile of EVs in British Columbia
