This Featured Project comes to us from Eagan, Minnesota, where BIG INK, a full-service visual design and large-format printing company, has been serving customers for three decades.
BIG INK is just 12 miles from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, site of Super Bowl LII (52) on February 4, so the company pounced on the opportunity to capitalize on the business that will potentially arise from the hundreds of businesses and tens of thousands of people descending on the Twin Cities over the next few weeks.
According to BIG INK president Tom Trutna, the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee alone is coordinating more than 100 events and venues in the weeks leading up to the Super Bowl, and that means a ton of banners, signs, displays, graphics of all kinds, etc. that will draw the attention of fans, sponsors and TV cameras.
“We’ve worked on graphics for many big games like the Men’s NCAA Final Four, the (Major League Baseball) All Star Game, (the National Hockey League’s) Winter Classic and previous Super Bowls (the last in Minneapolis was in 1992),” Trutna says. “We want to be available through the end of the event as often, clients will get a new idea at installation, when the project is typically considered finished. We want to be ready to fulfill any idea or need that arises.”
So the company purchased a delivery van and designed and wrapped it to look like a pigskin, and it’s at the heart of the “rapid response Special Teams” BIG INK has put together.
“We wanted to highlight the fact that we’re here to design, print, hand deliver, install and also able to get rush jobs done,” Trutna says. “Having the Super Bowl in your hometown is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so we wanted to be sure we were ready.”
The company is working with both local and national clients to supply printed visual graphics and has shifted staff scheduling so they are available 24 hours a day during the lead up and set up period for the game. The company designed and wrapped the Special Teams Ford Transit van with 3M IJ180 MC Control Tac and it has been spotted around town making deliveries.
“We wanted a visual representation,” notes Trutna, “so clients know we’re here, don’t panic, we’ll get the ball over the line for you, even up until the final seconds.”
We’re guessing that on February 5, it will be “end zone celebration” time around BIG INK’s headquarters. |
